DIY Spice Grindage
OR:
"Why You Should, Like, Rush Out and Buy a Coffee Grinder, Which You Can Often Find For Under 20 Rocks"
Those over-the-hill spice powders you buy from the store will seem beneath you once you are able to grind whole spices yourself. After all, some spices, such as cardamom and cloves, are practically worthless when you buy them already powdered. As for DIY masalas, sure, you can mix spice powders together and call it a day –- but the sensual experience is extraordinarily enhanced when the inner oils of whole spices are unleashed in the pulverizing process and have a chance to mingle and meld into a whole.
You need a coffee grinder.
If you don’t have one, get one. Tomorrow. You won’t be sorry. The difference that this little grind-happy buddy can bestow upon your food is as immeasurable as the weight of a rainbow. Freshly ground spices are a snap with this gizmo.
NOTE: You may want to consider bestowing a name upon your little grinder (such as with our 'Nigel'). Feel him (or her) vibrate with pride as s/he works so hard for you!
